This project began with my machine needing to be repaired and the need to sew. I hand quilted the entire vest using black sashiko thread. This was a focused and meditative process following the rhythm of the stitches without the concern of evenness or perfection. The angled stitching was intentional creating movement to draw the eye down the checked pattern of the fabric.
